Sometimes I feel...

... like I'm adding a monthly note just for Mariam.
If it's the case, no one should be adding comments below.

This being said, one more month of expecting for our next game to be secured and on the right tracks.
Microsoft has given us a green light, which pretty much ends the wait, but we still have to sign the damn thing.

Winter has hit Paris pretty quickly, from 10ish to sub zero - two wheelers like Pablo and I sure noticed the change.

(to be edited)

Cheers,
Denis.

Single (speed) again?

Last week I was asked to help my brother for the yearly enduro race he's organising. I was looking forward to use my new 2008 Specialized Enduro SL, but as often with hot rides like this, it got delayedand I'm still waiting for it as I write.
So I dusted my 11 years old fillet brazed cro-mo single speeder and rode the old fashion way (the one I used for the Euro Single speed championship).
Appart from steep climbs, the bike is fine. Still it's not confortable and a little boring.

There I am, single (speed) again. Hope it's not for too long.

Oops, missed two months already!

Listening to 'Sweet Sorrow' from J. Redman this morning.
So I haven't posted  for a while, but those summer months are really not the best times to spend extra time online.
Since June 19th few things happend, here is a random list:
- Spend a week in Montpellier at Pierres new house
- Prepared a trade show with the team
- Traveled to Leipzig for business
- Celebrated my B-Day with Seb (how many friends share your birthday?)
- Went to two weddings
- Got a new geek phone
- Celebrated Pablo's B-Day
- Mountain biked in the Alps
- Got a new expresso machine (a big one)
- Hugged my mum
Business is rolling and I hope to move forward as much as we can.
We're moving offices in two weeks, changes are often good.
Our next game is not signed yet, but in good position.

Happy birthday mum!

New news.

No news last month, so I thought I'm going to post twice as much today!
Then I decided not to.

There are a few pics added.
Have a wonderful day!
Denis.

Beautifull Emilie

"You got to talk to someone some day
Coz when the words are gone is too late

Communication with thee put the antenna there
I am a function of thee I'm speaking loud and clear

Oh beautiful emilie
Beautiful emilie

I need an explanation, right now
Some good communication, somehow
I need a statement from thee about an L shaped room
A space imaginary is an abandoned womb

Oh beautiful emilie
Beautiful emilie

I need an explanation, right now
Some good communication, somehow
An explanation for thee you made an angel cry
I feel so close to you there's no me I am a three times why?
Why? why? Why?
Do ordinary people specialize?

Oh beautiful emilie
Beautiful emilie

I need an explanation, right now
Some good communication, somehow
Clarification of thee your love is so unfair
What is the function of thee when all the songs not fair

I need an explanation, right now
Some good communication, somehow"

18 inches?

What is wrong with bicycle manufacturers?
Pablo & I went bike shopping last Saturday and realized 18' wheels did not exist!
Bicycles are either just too small or way too big.
I thought he would be heartbroken, but he was very cool about it.

I was in San Francisco two weeks ago for business.
Both weather & business were great.

I got my hair cut short (short-short), people around me tell me I look younger, but I cant figure if they say this because they're friends!

Summer is shaping up and already looking great! Single speed mountain bike & Pablo's b-day in June, free ride and south of France in July, provence bbq by the pool in August.
More than enough to hope for.

Meanwhile, in ten days, it's Count Basie's favorite month in Paris - one of mine as well.
Let's see what spring has in store for us!
A bientôt !
February 19

Spoing!! Spring is back (fabulous Feb).

A short post for a short month.

Once more, back from the Alps. This time with a ski-skills developping and more snow-loving than ever Pablo. We had great weathern even when it was snowing. The cabin has greatly improved over the summer, new floor, one added bathroom, new downstairs restrooms - the house is great.

We went yesterday to the winter circus (www.cirquedhiver.com), we love the place - it's quite unique. I tend to think the circus is an important part of artistic education. Plus it's fun!

Mercury hit 20° this week end in Paris, terrasses opened and people were in better moods. Spring is like a giant Prozac - 100% natural.

We're getting ready for the GDC (Game Development Conference) in San Francisco. Just like every time we attend a trade show, I'm never on time, but never worried. I guess I know by experience that worrying rarely helps.
I love San Francisco. It's the only place on earth with a 12 months spring.
January 19

Happy two thousand something.

So far this year I didn't get cold once. Nor a shiver, no sore fingers, no scarf, no over pants riding my bike.
Should I rejoice?
I'm thinking about future months of January two thousand something, when Pablo will be a grown up. When Januarys will be even warmer.
That sucks.

I'm leaving for the mountains today, the air in Tignes is rare, thin and crisp. Just what you need when you live in a giant city.
Pablo and I are also going there mid february - he's getting better at skiing. I like watching him make progress - it's a real parents reward

Our new appartment is starting to look like someone is actualy living in it! After obvious furniture (like the one to keep the tv off the floor!), we've added bits of decoration like candles, flowers and colored drapes. Pablo is taking it very seriously and we've had great review from visitors.

After my last post, I pulled an enveloppe out of the memory box (the 1995 one) and sent a letter to a long lost friend's parents house in Australia. They were still living there and forwarded my note. This friend and I have been exchanging emails the past two weeks.
Funny to see how people evolve, live, succeed, manage, follow their dreams, build, create and finaly stay the same to you. Stability and change. Two things needed to live, no matter what M thinks about it.

This year, I take no resolution. A good method for success.
Happy 2thousand7 y'all
Denis.

December 19

Merry Christmas of 1995.

Yep.
Time flies by, and then it comes back.
Merry Christmas, happy new year, say it ten times in a row.

Yesterday Cathy gave me a box filled with nostalgic memorabilias and I started going throught them.
Pictures, letters, chrome tapes (the ones 20 year olds NEVER used), stickers, agenda, plane ticket stubs, all of which were dated 1995.
Not that long ago huh? Well it has been over a decade, just long enough to realise.
Meanwhile, I came back to France, fell in love, learned to be a dad, realised I had a wonderful family, got single, took care of my own destiny, in one word, a turning decade (yes, I am a bit slow). On the news, OJ Simpson was trialed, Chirac was elected for his first mandate as French President. Jerry Garcia, Easy-E, Sterling Morrison and Darren Robinson all have the indencency to pass away.
It has also been the video game decade for me. Not playing it - that was the previous decade - but making them.
It has been a great ten years. Thanks to those one-shoe-box-fitting-memories.

Have a marvelous upcoming decade!
Oh! Oh! Oh!
November 19

Slowly sinking into winter.

November is the dreaded month in Paris.
Runny nose season.
Blanket championship opening.
Fireplace rebirth.
Big sweaters premiere.

But I like it. Call it excess of positivity, but winter irrepressibility makes me think of the upcoming spring.
Pablo is doing great, so is his mum – more reasons to rejoice for me.

Work has been a little more dense, not only in terms of volume but also decisions wise. You can never see how high is that hill until you’re standing like an idiot at its feet thinking “fuck, is it really this high?”. I guess it’s just a matter of organization and faith.
Let’s hope I did my homework and that my trip to Lyon will be worth it.

Good thing I’m working, it keeps me from wandering.
Next week end, we’ll go and get xmas decoration – looking forward to that.
All in all, this month has been better than the previous one – again.
October 19

Je dis M

Going to Lyon today.

Rhone Alpes is closer to my roots, yet I'm a stranger in the second largest French city.

I will go back there in December spend a couple of days, just like every year.

This past month has been, hum, rich.

Not only business wise - even if 'rich' is in this case a figure of speech - but also personally.

Wealth comes in numerous forms.

Some are casual signs of life’s enjoyments. A moment spent with a friend, a smile, nothing special to anyone looking from the outside, but making a big difference to you.

Sometimes luck – or destiny all depending on your beliefs – gets in the way and magnifies all these little things of existence.

Professionally, the Load Inc. crew signed a deal I initiated last December. I guess these folks take it slow (or maybe I’m just bad at doing business). I had to chase them from Paris to San Francisco, from Lyon to Los Angeles. It’s a relief for us. In the past two years, I had doubts, most of them silent, but it looks like we hung tight. Count on us for the upcoming two years.

Personally, even if I am still missing the essential (starts with an L), my days were sprinkled by laughing eyes and good words. More than anyone can decently ask for.

Yep, a good month. Better than the past one, hopefully not as good as the one to come.

Oh, while I’m here, thanks to M for making my days more than worth. You can never get enough it seems J

Have a good month.

Denis.

Myriam

Non, rien c'était juste pour dire que j'avais eu une discution passionante avec Myriam hier.
En fait a part elle, tout le monde s'en fout, mais au moins on est au courant!
